This production supports the KS2 National Curriculum aim to study “a study of an aspect or theme in British history that extends pupils’ chronological knowledge beyond 1066”, with a focus on the World War II.
Develop a chronologically secure knowledge of key events of World War Two, including the outbreak of war, evacuation, and the impact on Britain
Understand how people’s lives were affected through the study of the Home Front, including rationing, air raids, and daily life during wartime
Address historically valid questions about children’s experiences, particularly evacuation and separation from families
Construct informed responses by exploring character perspectives and motivations through performance
Understand historical concepts such as continuity and change, cause and consequence, and similarity and difference
Gain historical perspective by considering the roles and contributions of different groups, including civilians and organisations such as the Women’s Voluntary Service
