Book, Music & Lyrics by Joe Partridge

Overview

Silly-Billy Shepherd is a playful, heartwarming retelling of the nativity story — told through the eyes of Silly-Billy, a daydreaming shepherd who can’t seem to stay awake on the night everything changes.

Packed with catchy, easy-to-learn songs and plenty of laughs, this short musical celebrates kindness, curiosity, and the joy of working together. Designed for primary schools and youth groups, it’s a perfect festive show that’s simple to stage and unforgettable to perform.

The Story

Out in the fields one starry evening Silly-Billy watches over they're sheep. Suddenly the Angel Gabriel descends and tells of a special birth in the nearby town of Bethlehem. Silly-Billy isn't interested, of course they see baby sheep being born everyday.

The sheep however are excited with the news and unbeknown to Silly-Billy sneak over the hedge for Bethlehem. Very tired they arrive in Bethlehem they try to find somewhere to stay. Bethlehem is packed with queue's of people waiting in line to see the baby Jesus. Unfortunately, the grumpy Innkeeper won't let anyone see the baby who doesn't meet the dress code and Silly-Billy has no socks!

The sheep have a plan and craft a new pair of socks and they all pile into the stable to see the baby Jesus. Suddenly, Silly-Billy spots his missing sock lying in the manger. Thanks to the Angle Gabriel a gift is a gift. Gold, frankincense or socks!
